Project Summary

Several operators and US state regulators note that sampling of well headspace is simpler to implement, and is less error-prone than direct water sampling. This research project is set to investigate the feasibility of using headspace gas concentrations as a much simpler and more reliable proxy for dissolved gas concentrations in the wellbore fluid. The project will study the elements of the semi-open system of gaswater-wellbore and determine which parameters control the headspace gas concentrations by developing a piece of software that will model the various physical processes at play.
